The annual Ridvan (Riz-wan) Celebration is sponsored by the Baha'is of Fort Wayne. Ridvan is a twelve-day festival commenorating the announcement of the beginning of the Baha'i Faith by Baha'u'llah, its Prophet and Founder.
2012 Baha'i Holy Day(Ridván) Celebration - April 21, Indiana Tech
"Ridvan"means paradise and is named for the Garden of Ridvan. It is the most holy Bahá'í festival, and is also referred to as the "Most Great Festival" and the "King of Festivals".
This year we will celebrate Ridvan at Indiana Tech's Andorfer Commons. The Student Recreation Center offers a fun atmosphere with free bowling alleys, foosball and table tennis tables. We will have a program featuring music by Vic Chaney and storytelling by Condra Ridley. We will also get to hear Najah Ridley, Condra's daughter, who is well on her way to creating a great music career of her own!
We will also have a "potluck" sandwich and salad bar. We will supply buns, rolls, etc. for the sandwiches. Please add to the "potluck" by bringing sliced deli meats, cheeses, and other goodies for sandwiches. A large salad will also be provided. Feel free to bring items you love to add to your salad. You may also decide to bring a bags of chips, pretzels, etc.,or whatever you would like to share for the Sandwich/Salad Bar. It should be a lot of fun!

The program is about Education Under Fire (EUF), an international campaign to direct attention to the inalienable right of every human being to an education. EUF specifically focuses on the oppression of Iranian youth who are being denied their education and the imprisonment of teachers and administrators of this education program, simply because they were teaching Baha’is. This is a direct conflict with Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees education as an inalienable right of every human being.
This program is co-sponsored by the IPFW Department of Peace and Conflict Studies (contact, Patrick Ashton, Ph.D.), Indiana Center for Middle East Peace, and the Fort Wayne Baha’i Community. The discussion following the viewing will be facilitated by Dr. Patrick Ashton, Director of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPFW) and Dr William Smits, M.D.
Nobel Peace laureates, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and President Jose Ramos-Horta of East Timor have taken on ownership of this campaign and have thrown their influence and consciences behind it by writing open letters to the international academic community.

One of the main goals is to obtain 25,000 petitions to present to Iran by May 2012, the anniversary of Iran's attack on the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education (BIHE). By doing so, you will help shed light on the importance of protecting the right to education and access to information for all the peoples of the world.
