We’ll play games—Bunco (!) if we have at least 12 players, board games, cards, whatever strikes your fancy. Of course, we’ll share yummy snacks, great conversation , and maybe some surprises!

The 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Fort Wayne

The Bahá’í Community of Fort Wayne is delighted to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Fort Wayne this year.
On April 21, 1943, nine residents, the total number of adult Bahá’ís living in the city of Fort Wayne at that time, requested recognition by the National Spiritual Assembly to form a Local Spiritual Assembly (LSA). Mrs. Maye Worthington was immediately elected Secretary of that body.
Every year on April 21st, members of the Bahá’í community have elected another Local Spiritual Assembly. This year will mark the 75th anniversary of the original formation in 1943.
Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá’í Faith declares the underlying and motivating principle of the faith is the unity of humankind.

Celebrating Naw-Rúz
The Fort Wayne area Baha’is welcomed friends and neighbors to joyous celebration of the Naw-Rúz.
Nowruz, historically and in contemporary times, is the celebration of the traditional Iranian new year holiday and is celebrated throughout the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia. Since ancient times it has been a national holiday in Iran and was celebrated by more than one religious group. The Báb, and then Bahá'u'lláh, founders of the Bahá'í Faith, adopted the day as a holy day and associated it with the Most Great Name of God.
The symbolic notion of the renewal of time in each religious dispensation was made explicit by the writings of the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh and the calendar and the new year made this spiritual metaphor more concrete. `Abdu'l-Bahá, Bahá'u'lláh's son and successor, explained that significance of Naw-Rúz in terms of spring and the new life it brings. He explained that the equinox is a symbol of the Manifestations of God, who include Jesus, Muhammad, the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh among others, and the message that they proclaim is like a spiritual springtime, and that Naw-Rúz is used to commemorate it.
Ayyam-i-Ha Celebration
The Fort Wayne area Baha’is welcomed friends and neighbors to several joyous events during Ayyám-i-Há. Events started with the Saturday evening community dinner and celebration with special guest Kevin Locke, who shared traditional Lakota stories, Native American flute music, and then performed a traditional hoop dance that celebrates unity.
